Debere has expanded its dedicated tax team to support clients through increasingly complex tax, structuring and transactional matters.
Washington-based Debere is building on foundations laid by founder and partner Tony Tomlin, who is well recognised across the industry for his tax expertise and has been instrumental in shaping Debere's advisory-led approach since the firm's inception.
As part of the expansion, the firm is delighted to welcome Kelly-ann Wilde, a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) with more than 15 years’ experience. Kelly-ann has spent the past several months working closely alongside Tony and will continue to be involved in the tax team's advisory and compliance work on a daily basis.
Her appointment reflects Debere’s ongoing investment in building depth and continuity within the team, ensuring clients benefit from consistent, high-calibre support as the firm’s advisory workload grows. Kelly-ann’s varied background gives her a broad understanding of technical tax matters and enables her to provide advice and support tailored to each client’s individual circumstances.
The team is further strengthened by Associate Director, Rebecca Swales, who is regularly involved in the larger, one-off tax advisory projects that form a key part of Debere’s offering. Having been with the firm since its early days, she brings considerable experience gained throughout Debere’s development.
Dual-qualified as both a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and Chartered Accountant (ACA), Rebecca brings a rare combination of technical tax and accounting expertise, giving her a deeper understanding of business valuations. She is frequently called upon for group restructures and business sales, where this combined perspective adds significant value for clients navigating high-stakes transactions.
Debere’s expanded tax team is equipped to advise entrepreneurial businesses across the full spectrum of tax planning, restructuring and transactional work, from day-to-day compliance through to complex, one-off advisory projects.
Tony Tomlin, Director and Founder of Debere, commented: “We are building an experienced tax advisory team here at Debere, following recent government announcements around raising taxes to fund the UK economic black hole, we have experienced a significant increase in queries from clients around trying to protect the family wealth and ensure can maximise the amount passed to future generations.
With Rebecca, and the recent addition of Kelly-ann, and also bringing in more into the team further this year, we are on a journey with our clients to assist with their future aspirations.”
Rebecca Swales, Associate Director, commented: “I'm incredibly proud to have been with Debere since the very beginning. It's been rewarding to see how much we've grown and all the milestones we've achieved along the way, and I can't wait to see where the future takes us.”
Tax Manager, Kelly-ann Wilde, added: “I am excited to be part of such a knowledgeable and experienced team. I enjoy working with our diverse client base and guiding them through their tax planning and business restructuring needs, on both one off and long-term projects.”
